Bard Circle 25th May (OOC)

A fun Bard Circle, our Bard again encouraged us all to think on the spot and do a bit of improv.

The first word out of the bag was “Shanties” – and the following improv poems and ditties were conjured……

Julala Demina

Mermaids writing shanties
in only their panties
was a sight to see
for those at sea

Steering their ships
sailors lost their grip
and often ended up sinking

Was all too much
For the fishermen’s catch
and no fish were caught that day

Even the fishes
saw those mer knickers
and blushed as red as a snapper

Mermaids writing shanties
in only their panties
are sure a liability for those at sea

So a law was passed
to save those at mast
from blushing or drowning or starving

Mermaids writing shanties
in only their panties
is now banned………wait….
how would mermaids wear panties ANYWAY???!!
[End]

Jezebelle Queen

There once was a bard in a circle wide
A song of the sea she wrote, or tried
Onto the page did she words jot down
Out of her element was she (huh)

Soon shall the shantyman come
To sing us a tale of ships and rum
One day when the circle is done
We’ll turn our rudder back home

She’d not written down a half verse or more
When she realised her lyrics didn’t fit the score
She chewed at her quill and just wrote some more
Thought she “what the hell” (huh)

Soon shall the shantyman come
To sing us a tale of ships and rum
One day when the circle is done
We’ll turn our rudder back home

Da-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da

Up to the center our bard did stride
Her head held high in foolish pride
She called it a shanty but man, she lied
But at least she gave it a shot (huh)

Soon shall the shantyman come
To sing us a tale of ships and rum
One day when the circle is done
I’ll run my arse back home!

Kumi Kiyori

Tumbled down shanty
Warm and dry
Love fills the room
While the whippoorwill cry.

Deep down the Bonfouca
beside slow still waters
Heron be a catchin’
No intention of a barter

Marilina

There is a story told
among all the sailors
as they sail by a rock
where a woman sits
in a shape of a stone

It is said that she was once a mermaid
who fell in love with a sailor
and that one day
the sailor was called to the sea

And there she sat
day and night
under the sun and the storm
waiting and waiting
for her love to come back

He never came back
it was never known why
but we only know
that the mermaid’s lost love
turned her with time
into a stone

So listen all you ladies
never fall for a sailor
so that you might not end
like the Lady on the Rock.
THE END

The next topic out of the bag was shooting stars.

Artfaol Meltzer-Cahir

Night come , all the forest creatures are sleeping , except the owls who are the guardians of the stars , this night are special one for them , cause is their favorite night with all those stars dancing some goes to right some to left , it make it feel being a rain of stars all over the sky .

Julala Demina

When you look in the sky at night
and you see a shooting star
you know that star died long ago
we only see it now cos it’s so far

Away in the depths of space
the star had shone it’s last rays
and we the lucky ones who see her fade
across the sky without trace

Where does she go that star
after she has died
Who knows, we don’t
but she’s no longer in the skies
[End]

Marilina

Shooting Star

Oh so bright and oh so shinny
In the dark sky do you stand
Oh how pretty, oh what beauty
is the light that you shine.

As you travel far away
I will make my wish to you
keep it safe as you travel
through the dark, darkest night.
The End

Jezebelle Queen

Wish upon a shooting star
For luck or wealth or health
For a journey to a land afar
For love, or love of self.

Wish upon a shooting star
For happiness of kith and kin
For novelty, and things bizarre
For deliverance from vice and sin

Wish upon a shooting star
And pray that it comes true
For healing of a heart’s deep scar
The love I feel when I’m with you

Wish upon a shooting star
As young and young-at-heart are wont to do
For wishes pure, life can never bar
I wish I wish to always be with you
[end]
