If they are wearing their meters in “normal” mode i.e. you can see their details/stats they should be in RP (that doesn’t necessarily meant why are in a RP scene…just that they are in character)

(Sometimes people forget to put their meters into OOC mode so if you’re not sure you could ask them politely in IM)

If their meters is in OOC mode or they are not wearing a meter then it is unlikely that they are RPing (unless they forgot to activate their meter of course in which case, follow advice above).

There are many different ways of doing this and we’re not going to be highly strict on it unless we need to. These are some suggested guidelines about how to type your roleplay in a scene at AOC.

Generally if you are speaking in a scene you can do so in first person
e.g. “I think you stole my ferret, Sir!”

If you are emoting use the /me command
e.g. me/ scratches her head and raises an eyebrow

If you are emoting prior to speaking you can put your spoken text into “”
e.g. /me shakes his head wistfully “I have not even seen your ferret, my dear”

If you need to speak out of character (OOC) then write in double brackets.
e.g. ((Did you receive the fish I just gave you?))

Yes you can. Species must stay the same and is not interchangeable but you can certainly change your look up, in terms of skins, accessories, clothing, hair, etc. As long as you still fit the theme, you’re good.

There are various ingredients around the main Centauria region and anyone is welcome to harvest those ingredients. It’s good practice, especially when you first start using the Empires system to see how all the bits and pieces work.

Once you know how everything works there isn’t a massive point in continually collecting and harvesting ingredients unless you have a use for them. Others are unlikely to be wanting to purchase ingredients from you when they can go harvest them themselves.

As the roleplay develops in the AOC there will be opportunities to use ingredients and then it will be much more useful to have various ingredients in your pouch.

There are cookers about the place. Each cooker has certain recipes that it will make. You need to know the recipes before you can cook something with your ingredients, otherwise you’re just throwing ingredients into the fire!

The recipes are also about the place….you’ll need to find them. Once you find a recipe it’s a good idea not to share it freely with others…after all….knowledge is power.

When you first join the AOC RP you can visit the banker who will give you a starting balance of coin. The starting balance is 10 centaurian obols, 5 centaurian drachma and 1 centaurian chiron. After that you could obtain centaurian coin in a number of ways, for example: You might trade something you have in your pouch for centaurian coin with another user You might obtain the “selling scripts” from Unity and set up a market stall on market day to sell some of the things you’ve acquired or made. You might apply for a “working role” which attracts a weekly stipend of coin from the sim.

You can enter whatever you like as your title (within reason). Some people even put their “scent” in their title. There are plenty of characters so plenty of room to put things that you want people to know about you at a glance.

You MUST save you meter stats TO the setup HUD before making any changes. To be super safe you might even save your stats to your setup HUD, make a copy of the setup HUD as a backup and then make your changes. There really is nothing to be done if you don’t save your stats and lose them. Lesson learned for next time.
